The centre and Mizoram government are apparently not on the same page as far as selection of new Chief Secretary is concerned. As a result, for a time being, day ahead of the retirement of Dr Renu Sharma (IAS: 1988: AGMUT), an interim arrangement was made. H Lalengmawia (IAS: 2005: AGMUT), Commissioner & Secretary to the Govt. of Mizoram has been assigned to function as CS. He has taken over the charge. The state Chief Minister Lal Duhoma has favoured Vumlunmang Vualnam, being the son of the soil. Vualnam is currently the Civil Aviation Secretary. But the centre is expected to relieve Khilli Ram Meena (IAS: 1993: UT), who may further be appointed as the successor to Dr Sharma. Currently, K R Meena is serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs in Govt of India.
